Digital Learning Volunteer Roles
Subject Matter Expert (SME):
AACSB Staff, volunteer and/or partner. SME's create the content that is delivered in Digital Learning programs, typically selected for their credibility and expertise in the subject matter of the event. Prior to delivery, the content is reviewed by AACSB Learning and Development staff and AACSB Marketing and Communications for brand compliance and appropriateness of the message.
Presenter:
A SME who presents content and is selected for their credibility and expertise of the course's subject matter. The presenter typically has also contributed, at least in part, to the creation of the content.
Moderator:
Typically filled by an AACSB staff SME and often associated with webinars and other live events. However, in some situations the role may be filled by a volunteer SME. The moderator:
Monitors the chat feature to insert breaks at appropriate points in the webinar to answer content-related questions from participants
Moderates the Q&A session at the end of the webinar, if applicable
Interjects AACSB viewpoints, opinions, policy and procedural details as necessary
Facilitator:
Typically filled by an AACSB staff member due to the logistics involved and familiarity with AACSB business systems required to set up and run an online event. In some situations, a volunteer may share the role with an AACSB facilitator, such as during an online cohort-based course. In this scenario, the volunteer facilitator:
Collaborates with AACSB Digital Learning to determine the topic, learning objectives, summary description and call-to-action for marketing the program
Creates, or collaborates with fellow volunteer facilitators to create, course content
Facilitates, moderates and presents as required during any webinar associated with the course
Serves as the point person(s) for questions from participants related to the content
Monitors and responds to discussion board posts (if applicable)
Communicates with participants to encourage their participation
